What is The Great American Read?

An eight-part television series about the ways America reads and relates to stories and literature, as understood by a list of 100 great books. In this series created by PBS and presented by KERA, we’ll hear from authors, critics, and readers of diverse backgrounds about what makes a story powerful and important, and why we return to our favorite books.

While the series is running, we have the chance to vote for our favorite books in The Great American Reading List, a group of the country’s most-beloved stories. The results of the vote will be announced in the series finale.
