“Is the Spring coming?” he said. “What is it like?”... “It is the sun shining on the rain and the rain falling on the sunshine…” Frances Hodgson Burnett, THE SECRET GARDEN
The Vernal Equinox signals the beginning of Spring in the Northern Hemisphere, when the hours of daylight and darkness are equal. It has had an auspicious significance throughout history, signaling a time of change and renewal, optimism and hope. Here in North Texas, Spring is a short season to savor when everything is fresh and new again, when the sun here in Texas actually feels good upon one’s face. We long to spend time outdoors, to see the first tulips and bluebonnets blooming, to spy the first fireflies at night and smell the freshly cut grass. The spring brings thunderstorms to Texas, sometimes frightening but often wonderfully beautiful with their lightning and gentle rumbling, adding to the vibrancy of the season.
